Sharyn Sowell draws with her scissors, cutting detailed images and patterns freehand with a skill born of long practice. Her calligraphy is at once quirky and classic and she paints, especially enjoying the botanicals in her garden and the sights from her travels as artist in residence on cruise ships.

Sharyn owned a jewelry business, specializing in designing fine jewelry when her family took a fishing trip.  The children were restless so she picked up her husband's Swiss army knife scissors and a lunch bag and began cutting shapes to amuse her children. She found she really enjoyed creating with scissors and making images almost magically come to life…and she hasn't stopped cutting since!

After countless hours of practice, Sharyn is known for her detailed art that celebrates the beauty of nature and humanity.

Sharyn's art has been translated into home décor products; crafting and gift and social expression products across the globe. The recipient of multiple Louie Awards for her beautifully laser cut greeting card designs, her original art resides in the British National Portrait Gallery, Children's Hospital Los Angeles, and the Orlando Waldorf Astoria. Her covers for Amazon's Kindle sold over 2.25 million units. Each piece reflects that appreciation for the natural world.

“I believe the earth is crammed with miracles,” says Sharyn, “and my art is a joyful thank you for it all.”
